TEHRAN - President Hassan Rouhani said on Tuesday that Iran enjoys highly talented human resources that can speed up the country’s progress, highlighting the importance of science in the country’s progress and development.

“Iran enjoys highly talented human resource that can speed up the country’s progress. A creative human resource can make scientific development and essential equipment along with it,” he said during a meeting with university chancellors.

He also said universities played an important role during the Islamic revolution and will continue to do so in the future.

The president added youths should be trained to use the new technologies correctly, noting it is not advisable to distance oneself from new technologies and youths should learn to use them.

Elsewhere, he said issues such as “culture” and “freedom” should be seen parallel with economic needs of the society.

He added, “Today, the universities do not belong to one specific social layer. So, this capacity should be used to create suitable atmosphere in the society.”
